Caring for
your jewelry
Gold Filled & Plated Jewelry
What is the difference? Why do I offer both?
I offer both gold filled and plated jewelry so that you have the option to purchase a more affordable option if needed, or invest in higher quality if desired.
Plated is a more affordable option. It is gold, rose gold or silver dipped over a brass core. This is what causes plated jewelry to tarnish or for the brass core to start to show as the plating has started to rubbed off. Since it is more affordable is perfect for gifting.
Gold Filled is a higher quality of metal that is pressure bonded layers of 5% gold. This means that it is tarnish resistant and will withhold a lot more wear, and can withstand more elements when exposed. If you plan to wear your necklace everyday, I highly recommend considering gold filled.
Care Instructions
Plated Jewelry
Proper care is very important when purchasing and wearing plated jewelry. Plated jewelry is not intended for everyday wear because it will loose its color over time. I have listed a few ways that you can help your jewelry last as long as possible. Since you are not able to use any chemical cleaners on your pieces, we want to prevent tarnishing from happening. Once your plated jewelry has begun to tarnish, there is not anything that you can do to remove it. Lets go over the best way to care for your jewelry!
Always remove before sleeping, showering, swimming, ect.
Avoid direct contact with lotions or perfumes.
Only use a dry soft jewelry cloth to lightly polish.
Always store in a dry place.
Never use any chemical cleaners.
Gold Filled
Gold filled can handle a lot more daily exposures than plated and is a lot easier to care for! Since it is tarnish resistant, you should still follow these guidelines to ensure your chain remains in good contact and to get the longest wear out of your piece.
It is recommended to remove while sleeping, showering, swimming, ect.
Chemical cleaners should not be used on your jewelry, but you are able to occasionally use a polish pad to gently remove and build up or finger prints. You can purchase these in my “add on’s” section in my shop!
